Construction Research Institute and E-Soltec Co-developed Air flow and exit Use to meet demand in case of emergency
[Korea Economy = Reporter Kim Min-soo] Modular architecture is evolving. A technology has been developed that is easy to transport and store by breaking away from box-type modulators and folding into Z-shape, as well as completely blocking air flow and entry. According to related industries on the 26th, the Korea Construction and Living Environment Testing Institute (KCL) conducted a performance test on a foldable modular system jointly developed by the Korea Construction Technology Institute and E-Ssoltec at the headquarters of E-Soltec in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju on the 19th. Unlike general square box-type modulators, the foldable modular system was developed in the form of Z to maximize the ease of storage and movement. Rollers and hinges were used so that the modular column could be folded. Since it can be folded and stored in the form of Z, the volume can be reduced to a third when stored. Construction Research & Extension Services developed a modular folding drive system, and E-Soltec, which has experience developing a screening clinic with airtight performance, participated in securing the sealing function of walls, windows, and joints. In the performance test, the differential pressure and airtightness of the foldable modular were verified. Two modulators were installed with air conditioners developed to enable sound pressure, positive pressure and ventilation, and a sensor capable of measuring differential pressure was installed inside. As a result of the sensor measurement, it recorded 5.5 §å or higher, which is the appropriate differential pressure (2.5 §å), which is the standard for securing performance even with a small ventilation air conditioner. A smog with a cypress scent was also injected into the driving part where the modulator folds from the outside. The positive pressure function that prevents outside air from entering the room worked, and even smoke and smell did not leak in.
With such performance secured, the commercialization of foldable modulators is expected to vary. It is not only used as a screening clinic in the event of an infectious disease disaster, but can also be used for overseas reconstruction projects and national disasters due to the advantages of storage and movement. It is expected that it can be used as an emergency housing support plan for victims who lost their homes due to natural disasters such as typhoons and floods by supplementing housing performance such as insulation and airtight performance. It is said that the Seoul Metropolitan Government also showed interest in stockpiling foldable modulators. An official who participated in the development of foldable modulators said, "It can be used for residential purposes by removing air conditioners and attaching windows as well as screening clinics because it can be used for both positive and negative pressure and ventilation." "Although general rectangular modulators have a problem of taking up a lot of space due to their large volume, foldable modulators can be stored in storage warehouses in a folded state and spread out to meet demand in case of emergency, so they can be supplied quickly according to demand in case of an emergency.".
