The "2024 Land Transportation Technology Competition," which brings together new technologies that will guide the domestic industry into the future, kicked off on the 15th.

Marking its 14th anniversary this year, the Land, Infrastructure and Transport Technology Exhibition is an event hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the National Institute of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Science and Technology, and will be held at COEX in Gangnam-gu, Seoul from the 15th to the 17th.

The Land Transportation Technology Exhibition is the largest land transportation R&D performance exhibition in Korea that showcases research results in all areas of land transportation, focusing on the 12 major S.T.A.R. strategic technologies and advanced research programs announced in the 2nd Comprehensive Plan for Land Transportation Science and Technology (2023-2032).

In this event, 220 participating organizations will organize and operate eight theme halls, including ¡ã R&D Plus Hall ¡ã Smart SOC Hall ¡ã National Living Safety Hall ¡ã Mobility Hall ¡ã Future Aviation Hall ¡ã Carbon Neutral Hall ¡ã Industrial Promotion Hall ¡ã Technology Certification Hall.

First, the 'Smart SOC Hall' introduced new technologies that will bring a new wind to the construction industry, including modular sound pressure wards, non-traditional oil production plants, real-time control smart wearable safety devices, and building dismantling and construction equipment.

Modular construction is a new construction method that completes a building through simple assembly by manufacturing about 50 to 80 percent of the entire process at a factory and then transporting it to the construction site. Modular buildings can also be used for multiple purposes in the event of a disaster.

In this exhibition, the "modular negative pressure room" used during the COVID-19 pandemic was newly displayed by supplementing insulation and airtight performance.

The modular sound pressure ward developed by the Korea Institute of Construction Technology and E-Soltec is free to save energy and convert to a general ward by supplementing its airtight performance. In addition, it is an integrated system for conversion ventilation that can separate emergency exhaust in the event of a disaster and a disaster, allowing one-touch conversion. It also increased efficiency and performance by using antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-fungal sea wave filters using organic salt.

The UAM virtual integrated operation simulator (developed by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute) was displayed at the Future Aviation Hall. The simulator that will be presented at the technology competition is developed so that system operators of different roles can closely cooperate to review safety scenarios.

An OLED display system for aircraft passengers was also on display. This technology was produced for the first time in Korea through the development of technology for retrofit certification of private passenger aircraft, and its advantages include low power consumption and wide viewing angle. The technology currently under development is a 48-inch 4K resolution OLED panel, which allows visitors to experience video services through an exhibition space that is made similar to the actual aircraft cabin in this technology competition.

At the Mobility Hall, there is also an exhibition for self-driving experience, including truck equipment to reinforce Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) tunnel. VR goggles placed on the booth will show a video of you driving on a real road. Visitors can enjoy special experiences related to self-driving cars through hands-on exhibitions.

In addition, the Super-BRT (S-BRT) double-door refractive bus, also known as the Subway on the Road, is also available at the "Industrial Promotion Hall." This is a representative successful case of the R&D project for land transportation, which is currently in operation in Sejong City.

Land, Infrastructure and Transport Minister Park Sang-woo said, "The Land, Infrastructure and Transport Technology Competition can meet the future leading technologies promoted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport in advance. In the future, we will actively foster core technologies in the land and transportation sector with innovation, challenge, and industrial ripple effects in connection with major policies in the land and transportation sector, and we will also work hard to create a research environment where companies and researchers who have taken on challenging tasks can focus on research."
