Protecting Humans from Threats 'Modular Chambers' Protecting Humans from Disasters and Emergencies 'Trailblazing Wheelchair' Overcoming 5cm Obstacles, and More ![]() ¡ãE-Soltec's 'Modular Chamber,' which won the Innovation Award in the Human Security category at CES 2025, can be quickly expanded in the event of a disaster or emergency. (Screenshot from the CES 2025 website) At the world's largest consumer electronics and technology exhibition, 'CES 2025,' which will be held in January next year in the United States, technologies in various fields such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital health, and mobility are expected to be showcased. Among these, the most attention-grabbing theme is 'Human Security.' This field is receiving increasing attention in line with global human security campaigns, and South Korean companies are sweeping the awards, proving their competitiveness. According to industry reports on the 17th, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), the organizer of CES, awards the Innovation Awards each year at CES. This year, South Korean companies dominated the CES 2025 Innovation Awards. Out of 292 award-winning companies worldwide, 129 are South Korean companies. The award categories include digital health, AI, sustainability, drones, human security, and smart cities. The evaluation criteria are human security, ¡ângineering technology and functionality, ¡âesthetics and design, and the originality and innovation of the product. Human security is a new addition to the evaluation criteria this year. Human security goes beyond the military concept of security and encompasses the idea that humans should be protected from various threats, including economic and cultural challenges. The importance of this concept was further emphasized when the European Union (EU) added human security to the field of advanced technology security at the UN General Assembly last year. The UN has partnered as a CES campaign partner through the "United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security (UNTFHS)." It provides funding to support the realization of technologies related to human security, thereby strengthening the human security sector. ÀÌAs a result, the importance of the human security sector at CES has increased. During the exhibition, CES will hold two conferences related to human security. The topics include "Digital Health: The Next Generation of Tech-Driven Well-being" and "How AI Can Bridge a $3 Trillion Education Gap." According to KOTRA, South Korean companies won a total of 12 products in the human security category, accounting for 86% of all products awarded in this category. This means that 8 to 9 out of the 10 products awarded in the human security category are from South Korean companies. The product "Hypergrid NX," which won an award in the human security category, is a data center (IDC) power supply system jointly developed by LS Electric and LS Cable. It is a product that combines a superconducting fault current limiter and superconducting cables to instantly reduce fault currents caused by power system accidents, preventing fires and power outages while protecting the equipment. Industry experts believe this product will play a role in areas such as community acceptance and power stability. ![]() ¡ãDNC Biotechnology's "Urin Check-ER" product won the CES 2025 Innovation Award in the Human Security category. This product allows for easy urine testing at home, offering precision diagnostics, disease detection, connection to medical institutions, and telemedicine services. It received high praise for its ability to protect people's safety and health. E-Soltec has developed a "modular chamber" that can be quickly expanded and deployed during disasters and emergencies. Utilizing renewable energy, this product is expected to contribute to the safety and health welfare of humanity by helping to combat infectious diseases.
